sets up anti-cult association (03/03/2001)
The Chongqing Municipal Anti-Cult Association has been founded
in this metropolis in southwest China.
It is a non-government organization launched by 70 people in the
fields of science, law, religion and media in Chongqing, the economic
hub in western China.
A statement of the association, announced at the founding ceremony,
called on people of all social sectors in Chongqing to oppose evil
forces, fight against the cult and reinforce efforts to wipe out
the "tumor" of the society.
The association was set up to give publicity to science, respect
the freedom of religion, oppose cult which threatens the people's
safety and disturbs social order and stability, and help ordinary
people improve their sense of distinction.
