individuals commended for battling cult (02/26/2001)
A number of institutions and individuals were commended Monday
for their meritorious deeds in the current campaign to fight against
the notorious cult, Falun Gong led by Li Hongzhi.
Seven central departments issued a joint resolution praising 110
units and 271 individuals who showed "very high political consciousness
and lofty professional spirit" in the anti-cult drive.
They have safeguarded social stability and ensured the smooth progress
of the socialist modernization drive, it says.
It announced that the anti-Falun Gong campaign has won major victories
since 1999, when the central leadership launched the drive to crackdown
on the cult and educate Falun Gong practitioners.
