People's Daily Says People Should Learn A Lesson From Falun Gong
(08/22/2001)
China's leading newspaper " People's Daily" carries
an article in Monday's edition that says the Chinese should learn
a lesson from the struggle against Falun Gong and that the effort
to expose Li Hongzhi, its founder, has achieved a great deal.
People also need to ponder why so many people were deceived by
the Falun Gong cult, it says, even though it was against science,
human beings, society, and government.
The article says that cadres and Communist Party members should
improve their political sense and political study and that the fight
against Falun Gong has an important bearing on the fundamental faith
of communists, on the ideological basis for uniting the Chinese
people, and on the destiny and future of the Communist Party and
the government.
Party members need to increase their Marxist study, with emphasis
on materialism and atheism, which are powerful weapons in defeating
the enemy, it says, as well as develop a scientific spirit and fight
against superstition and to be vigilant.
The Communist Party of China is the ruling party with over 61 million
members and it has many advantages that include theory, organization,
and policy, it says.
It is also very important to rule the country by law and to improve
social management, which will improve people's legal sense, it says.
Many Falun Gong practitioners have the desire to improve their health
but didn't clearly understand the nature of Li Hongzhi and his anti-government
goals so more attention should be paid to people's need for health
and entertainment.
The article concludes by saying that no one can stop the great
undertaking because people have matured after the struggle with
Falun Gong and have united around the CPC with Jiang Zemin at its
core and are insisting on the Party's basic line.
