Why
do so many believe in cult?

When I read "Zhuan Falun" in 1996, I immediately found it
unbelievable. I just laughed and put it aside. Then in 1997, to my
surprise, at my college I saw a posting inviting people to practise
Falun Gong. By then Li Hongzhi had become famous all over China.

Letter: Unwise to Continue Distorting China's Image
Psychologists believe it is a natural response for a person, after
being put in an alien culture, to seek his "physical cues"
to alleviate the culture shocks he is likely to suffer during the
early days of adapting to the new environment.
